Quinn Ewers: 10 Potential Transfer Destinations for the Former Ohio State QB

Quinn Ewers, Ohio State Buckeyes Football

Ohio State QB Quinn Ewers will enter the transfer portal

Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to enter the transfer portal. The news of Ewers' decision to leave the Buckeyes was reported by Yahoo Sports and 247Sports on Friday night. Ewers made news earlier this offseason when he passed on a senior year of high school to enroll early in Columbus. The Texas native was a five-star prospect coming out of high school, and before reclassifying to the '21 class, was considered the No. 1 overall recruit. Ewers worked as a backup this year, playing in just one game with two snaps for the Buckeyes. Ewers will have four years of eligibility at his next stop.

Where could Ewers land as a transfer? Here are 10 teams to watch (in alphabetical order):

10 Potential Transfer Destinations for Quinn Ewers

TCU
New coach Sonny Dykes already has Chandler Morris and Max Duggan, but Ewers' upside could entice a look by the TCU staff.

Texas
Ewers was committed to Texas but later flipped to Ohio State. A move to Austin would make a lot of sense, especially since the Longhorns had up-and-down quarterback play from Casey Thompson and Hudson Card in 2021. Learning under coach Steve Sarkisian would also be a big selling point.

Texas A&M
The Aggies will return Zach Calzada and Haynes King next year, and the 2022 signing class is expected to bring in five-star prospect Conner Weigman. Coach Jimbo Fisher is regarded as one of the top quarterback gurus in college football.

Texas Tech
New coach Joey McGuire doesn't lack for options for 2022, as the Red Raiders return Donovan Smith, Tyler Shough and talented freshman Behren Morton. While McGuire has talent and options here, Ewers is simply too talented to pass on.
