Dan Mullen is done coaching for now. But he's still going to be a big part of the upcoming 2022 college football season.
According to a report, the former Florida and Mississippi State head coach is expected to accept a position with ESPN.
The Worldwide Leader has already made Mullen an offer to join its college football coverage. He hasn't made an official decision yet, but is expected to accept and join ESPN's team.
"Dan Mullen is considering an offer to join ESPN as a studio analyst & is expected to accept, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. The former Florida & Mississippi State coach has been a guest analyst for ESPN in the past," said Brett McMurphy.
Dan Mullen has been a guest analyst for ESPN before. He was a natural in the role and provided some strong analysis.
Mullen was fired by the University of Florida in November of last year before the 2021 season ended. His last game was an overtime loss to Missouri which saw the Gators fall to 5-6 on the year.
Florida has since hired Billy Napier to take over the program. Mullen, meanwhile, is expected to get back in the coaching game at some point. But it appears, for now, he'll entertain a role in the sports media industry.
As long as all goes according to plan, Mullen will be joining ESPN's college football coverage for the 2022 season.
