SEC Week 3 College Football Awards
Offensive Player of the Week: Nick Fitzgerald, QB, Mississippi State
Fitzgerald completed 14 of 21 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns and added 107 yards and four scores on the ground in Saturday’s win over Louisiana.
Defensive Player of the Week: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Delpit led the way for LSU’s defense in Saturday’s win over Auburn. He recorded 10 tackles (one for a loss), one interception and a pass breakup.
Coordinator of the Week (Offense): Mike Locksley, Alabama
The Crimson Tide’s offense scored 52 points in the first half and finished Saturday’s game against Ole Miss with a 62-7 victory. Alabama’s offense recorded 516 total yards (7.2 per play), converted 6 of 13 third-down attempts and did not punt until the fourth quarter.
Coordinator of the Week (Defense): Dave Aranda, LSU
LSU’s defense held Auburn to just 328 yards (5.0 per play), forced two turnovers and did not allow a score over the final five drives.
Team of the Week: LSU
The Tigers added another big-time win to their 2018 resume, as coach Ed Orgeron’s team defeated Auburn in a 22-21 thriller. LSU’s defense held Auburn’s offense in check in the second half, while Orgeron’s offense made enough timely plays, including back-to-back scoring drives to end the game.
Freshman of the Week (Offense): Jalen Knox, WR, Missouri
Knox caught five passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s win over Purdue. Knox’s 110 yards led all receivers for Missouri’s high-powered offense in Week 3.
Freshman of the Week (Defense): James Houston, LB, Florida
Houston led Florida’s defense with eight tackles (one for a loss) and recorded a forced fumble in Saturday’s win over Colorado State.
