Auburn had a nice week last week. It landed its two highest rated recruits in the 2024 class, and both of them were flips from Auburn's two biggest rivals.

First, 4-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick flipped from Georgia to Auburn. Then a few days later, Auburn landed its first five-star of the class after wide receiver Perry Thompson flipped from Alabama to the Tigers. And over the weekend, 3-star wide receiver Malcolm Simmons announced his commitment to Auburn as well.

Is Auburn back? Two highly rated recruits is a long way from being back, but Auburn fans are loving what they're seeing from new head coach Hugh Freeze, and rightfully so. Freeze has been hot on the recruiting trail since taking over, injecting life into Auburn fans that was nonexistent under Bryan Harsin. Freeze has shown his ability to not only recruit top-level high school prospects, but he also signed nearly two dozen players from the transfer portal.

And all this to win what - six or seven games this year? That's what the critics would say at least. Sure, that may be the reality this year, but so what? They went 5-7 last year, 6-7 the year before and 6-5 in 2020.

Ultimately, the life breathed back into Auburn is undoubtedly thanks to Freeze, who is seizing his second chance at coaching in the SEC and making the most of it. With the current trajectory, Auburn's future is looking brighter than it has in quite some time.
