E.J. Smith, a Stanford running back and the son of NFL legend Emmitt Smith, has unfortunately suffered a significant injury. He's going to miss the rest of the 2022 season.
E.J. Smith was poised for a breakout year playing for David Shaw and the Cardinal. In two games he had 30 carries for 206 yards and three touchdowns with eight catches for 63 yards and one additional score.
Unfortunately, the breakout star will miss the rest of the 2022 season with an injury. It's unclear that the specific injury is, but it's severe enough to hold him out the rest of the year.
"Stanford RB E.J. Smith will miss rest of season w/an injury, Coach David Shaw announces. Cardinal (1-2) visits Oregon Saturday," said Brett McMurphy.
An unfortunate development for E.J. Smith and the Cardinal.
Stanford players predicted all offseason that E.J. would be a breakout performer in the Pac-12 this season. So far he was living up to the expectations. Now, he will miss the rest of the season.
