Stephen A. Smith Predicts Major College Football Upset This Weekend

Stephen A. Smith has long talked glowingly about Nick Saban and the Alabama football program.

But this weekend, he thinks the Crimson Tide could be in danger of losing for the first time this season.

The ESPN sports talk personality said on "First Take" Wednesday that, if quarterback Bryce Young doesn't play, he's picking No. 6 Tennessee to upset No. 3 Alabama.

"I think Tennessee is going to knock off Alabama unless Bryce Young plays," Smith said.

Smith said it's the first time in four years he's picked against the Crimson Tide. He expressed concern about Jalen Milroe, who has filled in for the reigning Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback since Young left the team's win over Arkansas with a shoulder injury two weeks ago. Milroe committed three turnovers in Alabama's 24-20 win over Texas A&M on Saturday.

"In the last three or four years that I've been on this show, I’ve never sat up here on a weekend and thought that Alabama was going to lose," Smith said. "I actually never thought they would lose a game in four years, until today. Because I don’t like what I’m seeing. This kid, Milroe, the quarterback filling in for Bryce Young, he ain’t the answer."

Saban has been coy when asked about Young's status this week, saying he's made progress but declining to answer definitively whether he will take the field in Knoxville.

Alabama has won 15 consecutive matchups with Tennessee. The Crimson Tide are currently favored by 7.5 points, per DraftKings.
