Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian Announces Surprising Quinn Ewers Update

Steve Sarkisian, Texas Longhorns Football

Almost two weeks ago Quinn Ewers was abusing the Alabama defense in what was quickly shaping up to be a monumental upset in Austin. Unfortunately, Ewers went down with an early-game injury and the Crimson Tide escaped with a 20-19 victory.

The initial belief is that Ewers, the former 5-star recruit and Ohio State quarterback, would miss four to six weeks with a shoulder injury. However, it appears his return is much closer than expected.

Steve Sarkisian is telling reporters this Thursday that Ewers will travel to Lubbock this Saturday for the Texas vs. Texas Tech game. It's unclear if that means he will play. If not, Hudson Card will start again for the Longhorns.

"Quinn Ewers will travel to Texas Tech and suit up according to HC Steve Sarkisian. Ewers is ahead of schedule on what was originally a 4-6 week timeline for an SC joint sprain," said PFF College.

This is a pretty stunning development for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns. Quinn Ewers is extremely talented and has what it takes to lead Texas to a Big 12 title. His health will be a major storyline heading into the weekend.

Hudson Card, in the meantime, will start for the Longhorns until Ewers returns.

The Red Raiders host the Longhorns this Saturday afternoon.
