It's widely believed Urban Meyer will one day coach college football again. Interestingly enough, there's big coaching openings at Nebraska and Arizona State right now.
Nebraska finally fired Scott Frost a couple weeks ago. The Sun Devils, meanwhile, fell to Eastern Michigan in Week 3 and fired Herm Edwards a day later. Could Meyer be the next head coach at either school? It doesn't sound like it.
Meyer told Tim May this week that he's really happy with his role at FOX and enjoys all the time he gets to spend with grandkids. In other words, he's in no rush to get back in the coaching game.
“I’m really happy with Fox and really happy with the lifestyle right now,” Meyer said. “Flying in today to see grandkids. I’m happy with what I am doing.”
Urban Meyer has a keen ability to turn college football programs into powerhouses in just a year or two. He did it at Utah, Florida and Ohio State.
After coaching in college, Meyer made the jump to the NFL to coach the Jaguars of Jacksonville. It went terribly and Meyer didn't even last a full year.
Meyer is now back working as an analyst for Fox. It sounds like he's enjoying it and is in no rush to coach again. That could change in a hurry if Nebraska takes out a second mortgage and hurls an unprecedented offer Meyer's way.
