Week 6 College Football Picks Against the Spread
8-0 last weekend.
Yup, I'm going to soak that one in. The worst part of going 8-0 is knowing that it will never happen again — sort of like being a Mets fan this October.
But I digress. On to Week 6 where emotional letdowns could be the theme. Keep an eye on the dogs this weekend.
Last Week: 8-0
Year-to-date: 20-11
Cal (+7.5) at Utah
Utah is a fundamentally sound program with great special teams, so it’s tough to bet against the Utes. However, Jared Goff is unlike any quarterback they’ll face all season and is totally capable of keeping it close (or pulling off the upset). Prediction: Cal +7.5

TCU (-10.5) at Kansas State

The first emotional letdown alert after drubbing Texas last weekend is TCU in Manhattan. The Wildcats play really well at home and should be able to score on the ravaged Horned Frogs defense. TCU wins but KSU keeps it close. Prediction: Kansas State +10.5
Georgia Tech (+7) at Clemson
Clemson hasn’t blown out anyone of consequence this year, barely beating Notre Dame and Louisville. This is a prototypical letdown moment and Georgia Tech traditionally plays well when no one expects it. Prediction: Georgia Tech +7
Miami (+8.5) at Florida State
The Hurricanes simply aren’t very talented outside of Brad Kaaya. Florida State is struggling on offense but will be able to cruise on defense against Miami. In fact, this could be the game that gets the Noles' offense right. Prediction: Florida State -8.5
Syracuse (+3) at USF
Syracuse is much better than anyone thought and the Orange are getting quarterback Eric Dungey back this weekend — who averaged 14.3 yards per play against Central Michigan before getting hurt and 10.3 against Wake Forest. Prediction: Syracuse +3
