Alabama Expected To Lose 60-Catch WR Before Possible College Football Playoff Berth
Alabama (9-3) appears headed for another College Football Playoff appearance after the CFP rankings were released on Tuesday night. The Crimson Tide's playoff hopes appeared to be in jeopardy before Week 14 when the selection committee dropped them to No. 13 following a 24-3 loss to Oklahoma on Nov. 23.
Per Tuesday's updated ranking, Alabama is now No. 11 and would play on the road against Notre Dame if nothing changes after conference championship games this weekend.
The Crimson Tide could be without a pass catcher for the postseason. Per Matt Zenitz with CBS Sports, Alabama wide receiver Kobe Prentice is expected to enter the transfer portal.
"Alabama wide receiver Kobe Prentice is expected to enter the transfer portal, a source tells CBS Sports/247 Sports," Zenitz posted on X. "Former top-80 overall recruit with 60 career catches."
Prentice is Alabama's fifth-leading receiver in 2024, with 11 receptions for 129 yards and one touchdown.
The junior from Calera, Alabama has played for the Crimson Tide since the 2022 season.
The former four-star recruit had his best season for Alabama as a freshman in 2022 when he recorded 31 receptions for 337 yards and two touchdowns. The five-foot-10, 188-pound receiver has 60 receptions for 780 yards and five touchdowns during his three seasons with the Crimson Tide.
