Alabama Legend Nick Saban Pinpoints The One Issue That Can 'Break College Football'

If you survey 100 people who are involved in college football in some capacity and ask what the biggest issue is currently plaguing the sport, you may very well get 100 different answers.

Something that in and of itself is a problem that is hurting the sport we all love so much. Some may point fingers at the transfer portal, others at NIL, while others may look to blame the media conglomerates for killing the sport's regionalism. For now-former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, there is one key issue, and it's all the legal discourse.

Thursday evening saw Saban speak to reporters before he made his appearance as the keynote speaker of this 2024's Jimmy Rane Charity Golf Tournament. When asked about the biggest issue facing the world he just left after a lifetime on the sidelines, he reportedly mentioned that wasn't the purpose of his appearance, but did divulge his thoughts.

“The No. 1 thing we need to do in college football is, the first thing we’ve gotta do is address all the lawsuits because the lawsuits may break the NCAA and it may break college football, so that should be the first order of business,” Saban said per Alabama.com.

To name a couple, Florida State is suing the ACC with hopes of leaving, and out West, UCLA is having to pay what is now being called "Calimony" for leaving Cal out to dry in the Pac-12.

Whether or not this is something that can be fixed in the near future is unlikely, but if there was anyone who could emerge as a person of authority in college football to fix it, it'd be Saban.
