Former Alabama WR Traeshon Holden shades Tide, calls grass 'greener' at Oregon
As a recruit, wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ranked as a four-star and per 247Sports was one of the best 190 recruits in the 2020 class.
He was a part of the Tide's No. 2 ranked class headlined by Mater Dei quarterback and eventual No. 1 pick, Bryce Young. For Holden, during his three years in Tuscaloosa, he found himself as the fourth or even fifth receiver on the totem pole. He would see some time, but guys like John Methcie, Jameson Williams, Slade Bolden, Jermaine Burton, and Ja'Correy Brooks saw more volume. He ended up transferring prior to the 2023 season and landed at Oregon.
This past season saw him record 37 catches for 452 yards, while also grabbing six touchdowns, all of which were career highs. While things clearly didn't work out for him at Alabama and he found more opportunity in Eugene, he took to social media on Sunday just to let everyone know how much happier he is at Oregon.
In what appears to be a shot at Alabama, Holden took to the app formerly known as Twitter just to express how much better things are at Oregon.
"All I can tell anybody bout Oregon is that the grass is definitely greener," Holden wrote on social media.
The comment has certainly struck a chord with Alabama fans, but with the expanded playoff there is a world where the Tide and Ducks could face off against one another if both hold up their end of the bargain. As for the Tide's receiver room, they are going to be heavily relying on newcomers and unproven wideouts to carry the load after suffering some major attrition this offseason.
