Former four-star and Alabama DB Tony Mitchell to attend JUCO powerhouse
After entering his name into the college football transfer portal, former four-star recruit Tony Mitchell will have to take the hard route back to the Powrer 4 or even FBS level.
According to an announcement made by motivational speaker Byron De'Vinner, on X, which saw Mitchell repost it, his recruitment remains open and he is set to attend JUCO power East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) through December. The program was at one point featured on Last Chance U on Netflix.
Mitchell's lone season in Tuscaloosa didn't go as planned for either party as he appeared in just seven games, most of which were on special teams. Not long after he got to Alabama, he was arrested in March 2023 by police in Florida for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop that saw him reach 140 miles per hour to evade police. Nick Saban suspended Mitchell after the arrest, but he was later reinstated.
As a recruit, Mitchell was ranked as the No. 195 player in the country and chose Alabama over programs like Auburn, Texas A&M, and Florida among others.
