Daniel Jackson surpasses Tutu Atwell in all-time receiving yards in Gophers history
Minnesota Golden Gophers wide receiver Daniel Jackson has climbed the program's all-time receiving yards chart after his performance on Friday.
The fifth-year senior now has the fourth-most receiving yards in Minnesota history (2,685), surpassing Tutu Atwell's 2,640 yards.
Jackson likely won't move higher than that, as he trails Ron Johnson (2,877), Tyler Johnson (3,094) and Eric Decker (3,119).
The Gophers wideout also ranks second all-time in program history with 208 receptions, trailing only Decker's 227.
Jackson helped the Gophers snap Wisconsin's 22-season win streak on Friday as Minnesota reclaimed Paul Bunyan's Axe in a 24-7 win. The wide receiver hauled in six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Like throughout his career and this season, Jackson snagged some tough catches against the Badgers, something that could translate well in the NFL.
In 11 games this season, Jackson has 75 catches for 863 yards — both season highs — and four touchdowns. He's also averaging a season-high 72.9 yards per game.
The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver's most notable games this season all came against Big Ten opponents. He hauled in nine catches for 112 yards in a losing effort against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sept. 21; a season-high 10 catches for 89 yards during a win against the UCLA Bruins on Oct. 12; and nine catches for a season-high 117 yards and two touchdowns to help Minnesota defeat the Maryland Terrapins on Oct. 26.
In 54 career games for Minnesota, Jackson has 208 receptions for 2,685 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Jackson and the Gophers (7-5) will learn their bowl game matchup next month as they've secured their fourth consecutive bowl game.
