Ashton Jeanty Gets Brutally Honest on Boise State’s Struggles Against Penn State In CFP

Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy after a magnificent season.

However, Jeanty was bottled up in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game on Tuesday against Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Jeanty rushed for 104 yards on 30 carries and was held without a touchdown. It was the first time Jeanty failed to score a rushing touchdown since September 21 against Portland State.

It was a tough outcome for Boise State as Penn State got the 31-14 win. After the game, the Broncos star opened up on why he was held to a season-low in rushing yards, per Tyler Donohue of 247Sports.

“Movement,” Jeanty said. “That’s one thing we struggled with, is movement. They have a great D-line, front seven. It wasn’t really that they did anything extraordinary. They executed. They tackled. We didn’t play our best.”

Penn State crushed SMU, 38-10, in the first-round game and then took care of Boise State with ease to advance to the semifinal.

Jeanty had 32 carries for 209 yards and a score in the Mountain West Conference title game against UNLV, but he failed to find success on Tuesday. The longest rush was 26 yards, and he finished with a 3.5 average per carry in the loss.

Jeanty’s unreal season comes to an end, and the future looks bright as he prepares for the NFL.

Meanwhile, after beating the Broncos, the Nittany Lions will face the winner of Notre Dame-Georgia for the semifinal.
