Deion Sanders put his mark on this year's recruiting class with two of CU's incoming freshmen earning national recognition.

Colorado Buffaloes running back Dylan Edwards and cornerback Cormani McClain were part of 247 Sports' 2023 Preseason All-Freshman team, per an announcement on Thursday The duo is part of Coach Prime's melting pot roster and came to Boulder from separate parts of the country.

Edwards, a top-level running back out of Derby HS in Kansas, has looked impressive during his short time in Boulder. He was highly-touted as a top 150 four-star recruit and picked CU over Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Among the list of accomplishments for Edwards is being named the 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Kansas. He put up 3,214 all-purpose yards and 40 total touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, McClain is evolving into his own at Colorado. The nation's top defensive recruit verbally committed to Miami but flipped on Mario Cristobal and his staff for Coach Prime's Buffaloes. The former Lakeland standout left the Sunshine State as a "once-in-a-generation" talent with 58 tackles (3 for loss), 15 interceptions, 17 PDUs, and three forced fumbles over the last two years.

Colorado opens the 2023 football season in Fort Worth with 17th-ranked TCU on Sept. 2. Expect both Edwards and McClain to contribute to the Buffs this season.
