Travis Hunter Gets Leveled By Own Teammate During Colorado-UCF
The Colorado Buffaloes are back in action in Week 5 of the 2024 college football season as they take on the UCF Knights in Orlando, Florida.
After Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw an interception on the third play of the game, the Knights marched all the way to the Colorado five-yard line before their quarterback, KJ Jefferson, threw his own interception in the back of the end zone to Colorado cornerback Preston Hodge.
In celebration, Hodge and hybrid star Travis Hunter jumped up for a chest bump, but Hodge may have been too aggressive with it, sending Hunter flying to the ground.
On the very next possession, Colorado capped off its 80-yard drive with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Sanders to Hunter to give them a 7-0 lead with 3:49 remaining in the first quarter.
Hunter has proven himself to be a true Heisman trophy candidate through four weeks, recording 37 catches for 472 yards and five touchdowns. The Junior from Suwanee, Georgia, also has an interception and a forced fumble.
In Week 4's miracle win against the Baylor Bears, Hunter forced a game-sealing fumble in overtime that ended the match. The Buffaloes were able to get the contest into OT after Sanders threw a Hail Mary touchdown pass as time expired to tie the game.
In its second season under coach Deion Sanders, Colorado has gotten off to another strong start with a 3-1 record before the UCF matchup. In 2023, it also started 3-1, but finished the season with a 4-8 record, missing out on a bowl game.
