Travis Hunter Sends Clear Threat to NFL Teams About His Future
Travis Hunter is no ordinary prospect. As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Colorado standout has become one of the most talked-about players in the class—not just for his talent, but for his rare commitment to playing both sides of the ball.
Hunter lined up at both cornerback and wide receiver for the Buffaloes, capturing national attention and adding to the momentum behind his high draft stock. While most teams project him as a corner at the next level, they acknowledge his offensive upside. But Hunter isn’t interested in being boxed into one position.
In a recent interview with CBS Sports, the former Heisman winner made it crystal clear: limiting him to one side of the ball is a dealbreaker.
Hunter Says He’d Quit Football Before Choosing Between Offense or Defense
“It’s never playing football again,” Hunter said when asked what would happen if a team forced him to pick just one role. “Because I’ve been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball.”
Hunter added that his mindset is driven by confidence and competition: “I got a competitive spirit that I can do whatever I put my mind to, and I feel like I can do it.”
At the NFL Combine, Hunter was listed as a cornerback. But at Colorado’s pro day, he ran wide receiver drills, underscoring his commitment to staying versatile. He also argued that NFL rosters offer more breaks and rest, making it easier to manage both roles.
If it were up to him, he’d play 100% of the snaps on offense and defense.
While some teams may hesitate due to durability concerns, Hunter isn’t budging. His message is clear: draft him as a two-way player—or don’t draft him at all.
