Trevor Etienne Taking Heat For Unexpected Eye-Black Message During Florida-Georgia
The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs faced off in Jacksonville on Saturday to continue their storied rivalry. Florida came in at 4-3, while Georgia, ranked No. 2 in the country, held a 6-1 record.
One of the game's biggest storylines was Georgia’s running back, Trevor Etienne. After two seasons with the Gators, Etienne transferred to the Bulldogs this past offseason. The 5-foot-9, 205-pounder racked up 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns on 249 carries in his Florida career.
Unfortunately for Etienne, he was forced to exit the game early with a rib injury, finishing with just seven carries for 31 yards.
However, during his limited time on the field, his eye black caught attention.
It read “Choot ’Em,” a tribute to an alligator-hunting tour company from his home state of Louisiana, famously featured on the show "Swamp People."
Of course, Florida fans weren't happy to see what he wrote. Many took to social media afterward to voice their displeasure.
"31 total yards," one fan said.
"Said it was all love but had that on the eye black just to be as big of a factor in this game as he was last year 🥱🥱🥱," another stated.
"7 carries for 31 yards," added another. "What a dominant performance."
"And he didn't do a dang thing," said a fan.
"He's had tons of time to show it off on the bench," another added.
"Glad it's easily readable from the bench," one stated.
"Anyone have his stat line for the day?" said another.
Georgia leads the all-time series against Florida 56-44-2 and has won seven of the last eight. The Gators’ only recent victory came in 2020, a 44-28 win.
In Week 11, No. 2 Georgia will take on the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels, while Florida faces off against the No. 6 Texas Longhorns.
