Rising ACC Program Loses Former Four-Star RB to Transfer Portal
With the spring transfer portal window quickly approaching, more college football players are beginning to announce their intentions to play elsewhere for the 2025 season.
The latest entrance is Georgia Tech running back Anthony Carrie. The former four-star recruit out of Tampa, Fla., appeared in seven games as a true freshman last season. Carrie (6-foot, 195 pounds) totaled 120 yards on 25 carries with one touchdown.
Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key were able to land Carrie in the class of 2024 after he decommitted from Michigan State. Carrie was also considering Texas A&M, but ultimately chose the Yellow Jackets on signing day.

Carrie was up against some stiff competition in Georgia Tech's backfield during his freshman campaign, as the Yellow Jackets featured leading rusher Jamal Haynes and backup Chad Alexander.
Haynes rushed for 944 yards with 12 total touchdowns, and Alexander finished second among tailbacks with 280 yards and one touchdown. Additionally, quarterback Haynes King was one of the top rushers in the ACC with 587 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Carrie appears to be the lone rusher from the 2024 season not returning for the Yellow Jackets in 2025, according to an announcement on Monday.
Elsewhere, Georgia Tech lost arguably its top player in wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. (Auburn). But Haynes King and Jamal Haynes bring back the majority of the rushing production on offense under coordinator Buster Faulkner.
Key and Co. have helped rebuild the Yellow Jackets into ACC contenders in the first two seasons at the helm, posting back-to-back winning seasons after the program failed to finish with a winning record over the previous five seasons.
The spring transfer portal window will open from April 16-25.
The Yellow Jackets will hold their annual spring game on April 12 before the season opens at Colorado on Aug. 29.
