The Tom Izzo Press Conference Weekly Rewind
Â
Â
The Michigan State men’s basketball team took a step back in the right direction with a blowout win over Penn State. Draymond Green recorded his first ever “Triple-Doubleâ€, which put smiles on all of our faces here at “Spartan Nation.†The win didn’t come without its negatives. Delvon Roe was injured at the end of the game, and we can’t help but to feel sorry for him. With his team looking to turn the corner, Tom Izzo took to the podium for his weekly press conference. Notable excerpts include:
Â
“We are coming off our best performance in 3 weeks offensively.â€
Â
“Day Day coming off that triple double shows his versatility.â€
Â
“He had minimal swelling.â€(Delvon Roe)
Â
“Delvon seems to be able to play through a lot of pain.â€
Â
“Mike Kebler came on to play the kind of defense I think he can play.â€
Â
“Sullinger is going to get some points, we have to make sure those other guys don’t.â€

The game against Penn State showed us numerous things. This team still has some fight left in it, and the post game seems to be coming around. Draymond’s “Triple Double†showed that he is capable of carrying a team with his versatility. If the Spartans are going to make the tournament, Durrell Summers will have to pick up his play. He has been nonexistent on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The situation is at a crisis point. This team has to win its’ remaining games, or we might be treated to the NIT for the first time in 13 years. This feat seems even more unrealistic with the injury to Delvon Roe. Roe’s interior defense and leadership will be missed, if he knee does not heal properly. The Spartans backs are definitely against the wall. Some might say their backs are actually embedded into the wall. Lets hope they come out swinging.Â
