Dantonio Lands Commitment #3 For the 17 Recruiting Class OL Kevin Jarvis With Some Help from a 2016 Star!
While Mark Dantonio’s Spartans are well underway with spring ball entering his 10th year at the helm for MSU, he got an early Christmas present today. Kevin Jarvis the 315# 6’5” offensive lineman from Oak Ridge, IL committed to the Spartans earlier.
Jarvis is a large human being with the athleticism that high level football programs love. Nimble on his feet and gift with his hands and long arms, Jarvis is already an imposing figure. A superb run blocker, Jarvis is so athletic that he is far beyond his age in pass blocking. Able to move laterally as well as vertically.
Jarvis made his commitment public today on Twitter saying, “I am proud to announce I am officially committed to Michigan State.”
Spartan star DT commit from the 2016 class Naquan Jones, is from Chicago and has played against Jarvis. Jones is a big reason he committed today.
Jones told Spartan Nation moments ago, “I love the way he (Jarvis) plays. He has a great motor. He isn’t done until he is done. He is a finisher. He is very aggressive and very physical. Any quarterback will love this kid. We are going to be better as a defensive line getting to play against him in practice every day and MSU just got better. He’s great.”
We saw last year with QB Messiah DeWeaver how big of an impact a player can have on recruiting. Did Jones have anything to do with the process?
“Yeah definitely a lot. We have been talking a lot basically since we played this year. He told me he was very interested in Michigan State. I told Coach Brad Salem about him when they were here once for an in home visit and they said they were going to give the opportunity. He (Jarvis) told me yesterday he was going to commit. He told me it was great and better than any place he had seen.”
Jarvis becomes the third member of the Spartans 2017 class.
