Notre Dame Continues Momentum With Running Back Daniel Anderson
Among the most popular names on the 2025 running back board for Notre Dame is Bryant (Ark.) High School star Daniel Anderson, who made the trip back to campus on Sunday for the “Grill and Chill” recruiting cookout. This was Anderson’s first trip back to South Bend since camping there this summer, and receiving an offer after his stellar performance.
While Anderson already had a high opinion of the Irish program, it was definitely strengthened on this most recent visit. The coaches and recruiting staff deserve a big credit for that.
"Ever since the first camp I attended, I had already thought very highly of Notre Dame,” Anderson told Irish Breakdown. "After today it really solidified that impression I have of them.
"Getting to see the coaching staff again would definitely be the highlight of the trip,” Anderson added. "Also getting to make the connection with the other recruit to build relationships with people that could potentially be in my future was awesome.”
This visit also provided Anderson with some new information. Notre Dame isn’t just football. It is much, much more.
"Some things that surprised me was just learning the information on the percentages of college graduates, and getting to learn how much money you can make coming into Notre Dame as a student and leaving as a Notre Dame graduate,” he said. "It was awesome to see the type of opportunities that could open up for me.”
After getting to work with the Irish coaching staff while camping; the Arkansas native has been developing an even deeper relationship with them. That continued on Sunday.
"I got to talk to Coach (Deland) McCullough and really learn about how he coaches and runs his running back program,” Anderson said. "I also got to bond with the other recruits through the games and activities they had set out for us today.
"The overall message was that it’s not just about football but life after football and about school and education,” he continued. "I believe with the way Coach McCullough has things set out that my skill set would definitely contribute to their pro style of offensive playbook and style they need on the field.”
Anderson is coming off of a highly productive sophomore season, sitting as a huge reason why Bryant was able to capture their fifth straight state championship. He finished with 856 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on just 74 carries, including an impressive 11.6 yards per carry average.
The talented runner was also a weapon in the passing game. Anderson exploded for 246 yards and three touchdowns on just nine receptions. That was good enough for a 27.3 yards per reception average.
The 5-11, 190-pound athlete has been gaining substantial interest on the recruiting trail recently. Anderson has been extended offers from the Fighting Irish, Tennessee and Mississippi State among others.
From a recruiting ranking perspective, Anderson is considered a four-star recruit according to Rivals. The Arkansas native is currently pegged as the No. 160 overall player and No. 15 player in the 2025 recruiting class.
