WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Hidalgo enters Sunday’s game just 13 points shy of 1,000 in her career. If she gets that mark against the Orange she will accomplish the feat in a new program record 44 career games. Beth Morgan holds the current Irish program record by doing it in 60 games during the 1993-1994 season. Hidalgo will be the sixth current Irish player to join the 1,000-point ranks. Miles is the most recent by scoring her 1,000th point against Southern Cal.
Going back to their days together in the Big East Conference, Notre Dame has played Syracuse 45 times previously The Fighting Irish have won 39 of those meetings but the Orange swept the home-and-home series from Notre Dame last year for the first time ever. The two teams met twice every season under the old ACC scheduling format but this will be the only game between the two in the regular season. Louisville is now Notre Dame’s only repeat regular season opponent after the additions of Stanford, Cal and SMU to the ACC. Notre Dame is the first ranked opponent Syracuse will play this season.
