Ohio State Dealt Unfortunate News on Wednesday
The Ohio State Buckeyes football program has not had a good five days. In Week 14, Ohio State lost to Michigan, 13-10, in Columbus.
That loss eliminated Ohio State from the Big Ten title game and sent Buckeyes fans into a frenzy. Some called for coach Ryan Day to be fired.
On Monday, Ohio State received word that Class of 2025 edge commit Zahir Mathis would not be signing with the program this week. Then Ohio State received more bad news as the early signing period kicked off on Wednesday.
Na’eem Offord, a five-star cornerback in the Class of 2025, flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon.
During Offord's ceremony at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, a projector screen was lowered to play an Oregon hype video featuring Ducks coach Dan Lanning and players.
The video ended, the screen came up, and Offord put on an Auburn hat before throwing it and placing the Oregon hat on his head.
"Sco Ducks," Offord said.
Offord had Auburn, Oregon and Ohio State hats on the table, but ultimately he chose to go to Eugene and play for the Ducks.
Offord had been committed to Ohio State since February 2024, but he took visits to Alabama and Oregon in June before visiting Florida during the season.
Ultimately, Offord backed out of his Ohio State commitment and will play for Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks team.
Offord is the No. 2 cornerback in the class and the 11th overall player, per the 247Sports composite.
Now, he is set to join the current No. 1 team in the country.
