Ohio State's Loss to Michigan Draws Blunt Admission From Colin Cowherd

The Ohio State Buckeyes suffered a shocking 13-10 defeat at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines in their regular season finale, which knocked them out of the Big Ten Championship Game and dealt their College Football Playoff hopes a brutal blow. And in the wake of the result, Colin Cowherd issued a rather bold take.

Nothing about this game was good for the Buckeyes, as they struggled mightily on the field, suffering a loss that could lead to their entire campaign falling apart. Beyond that, the team also instigated a massive postgame brawl with the Wolverines after they planted their flag at midfield on Ohio State's logo.

"The Game" has been played 120 times, and yet, this might end up being one of the most consequential results for either Ohio State and Michigan. Cowherd agrees with that line of thought, as he labeled this the "worst loss in the history" of the Buckeyes and Wolverines long-running rivalry.

"I don't care what anybody says, that's the worst loss for Ohio State in the history of that matchup," Cowherd said on, "The Herd." "They lost at home to a walk-on quarterback at Michigan, a team that can't throw the forward pass, (and) that was missing two of their stars."

There's no sugarcoating how bad of a loss this was for Ohio State, and while Cowherd's claim may seem outlandish, he could have a point. The Buckeyes were on track to square off against the Oregon Ducks in the Big Ten Championship Game, while also being one of the top teams in the CFP.

Now, the Buckeyes won't face off against the Ducks, as the Penn State Nittany Lions found their way into the championship game. And while Ohio State still figures to qualify for the CFP (they were the No. 2 team heading into Week 14), they will likely fall down the list, which could make their path to a National Championship even tougher.

Beyond that, Ohio State's longtime rival in Michigan now gets bragging rights over them for the next year, which makes this loss an even tougher pill to swallow. If there was one game the Buckeyes could not afford to lose, it was this one, and their fans will be hoping they can rebound before it's too late.
