Urban Meyer Has 1-Word Response on if Ohio State Can Win National Title After Michigan Loss
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had an incredible season. They finished the 2024 regular season 10-2. Their two losses came to Oregon -- the top-ranked team in the nation which finished the season 12-0 -- and Michigan, their top rival.
Despite playing a seven-win version of the Wolverines, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day lost yet another game to Michigan which has caused quite a narrative to go around.
Evidently, Day coming away with a playoff win could do plenty for the narrative surrounding his name. After losing to a lesser version of Michigan this season, can Ohio State win a national title?
Given their close matchup against Oregon and a big win over Penn State -- two College Football Playoff teams -- it's hard to discredit every other accomplishment Ohio State had this season.
Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, who won a National Championship during his time in Colombus, the team has everything ahead of them.
Meyer had a one-word response regarding the team's title hopes. Can they still win a title after losing to Michigan?
"Absolutely," Meyer said. "You name a better roster -- I think it's Oregon, Texas and Ohio State that are the best rosters in college football."
Title-contending programs lose games. Texas took a huge loss to Georgia on their home field in Austin, TX. Sure, the magnitude of losses is different, but it shows that highly-talented rosters are not immune to losing.
Ohio State certainly has the capability of winning a title. Whether they will or won't will be determined by their response to losing the final game of their regular season schedule.
If they don't come away with a playoff win, at minimum, with the expanded 12-team format, it might then be time to begin having conversations about Day's tenure in Colombus.
