Drew Allar's Girlfriend Makes Decision on Social Media After Heartbreaking Loss
The Penn State Nittany Lions spent all week as the underdog heading into the Orange Bowl against Notre Dame - until about an hour before kickoff.
The betting line suddenly switched in Penn State's favor right before the game kicked off and the Nittany Lions showed why for much of the first half.
James Franklin's team took a 10-0 lead in the first half and looked like it was in for a dominant performance until Notre Dame battled back.
The Fighting Irish scored 17 straight points to take a 17-10 lead before Penn State answered with a pair of touchdowns to make it a 24-17 ballgame.
Once again Notre Dame answered the call with a touchdown, but gave Penn State an opportunity to win the game late.
The Nittany Lions got the ball back with 47 seconds left on the clock and picked up a quick first down to start the drive with some momentum. Unfortunately, quarterback Drew Allar did what a quarterback isn't supposed to do - throw late over the middle.
He attempted to find wide receiver Omari Evans but the ball went directly to Notre Dame's Christian Gray instead. The Irish went on to kick the game-winning field goal just a few plays later.
"I was going through my progression, got to the backside, and honestly, I was just trying to dirt it at his feet," Allar said after the game. "I should have just thrown it away when I felt the first two progressions not open, because of the situation we were in."
Allar wasn't the only one feeling the pressure after the game. His girlfriend, Emma Bush, made her Instagram account private following the game.
The talented quarterback plans to return to Penn State for another season, though draft analysts speculated he could be the top quarterback selected in this year's draft if he decided to leave Happy Valley.
