Elite Safety Prospect to Visit Texas A&M Aggies One More Time Before Commitment
The Texas A&M Aggies will get one more shot to convince one of the best prospects in the country why he should choose A&M over Oregon and others.
Elite safety recruit out of Cleveland Trey McNutt was supposed to commit last weekend, but elected to delay things due to travel issues for people close to him who were trying to get to the announcement. The travel situation, however, has led to great fortune for Texas A&M.
McNutt is now scheduled to commit on August 3, but he told On3's Steve Wiltfong that he is going to take another visit to College Station this weekend and get one last look, giving Mike Elko one of the final words before he commits.
"I just have to get another look at A&M,” McNutt said to Wiltfong. "Their staff with A&M is elite on the safety side and they produced a lot of safeties,” McNutt said. “Coach Ish and Coach Elko and Coach [Jay] Bateman and the staff are great. Coach Elko’s defensive mind is elite. I just like Coach [Ishmael Aristide] and his personality and everything."
Going into McNutt's final Texas A&M visit, the Oregon Ducks lead heavily in his pursuit with greater than a 90 percent chance to land him according to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine.
But Elko and the Aggies will get the chance this weekend to make one final push with all hands on deck to land the 5-star. McNutt is rated by all major recruiting platforms as a top-20 prospect in the entire class as well as the No. 1 safety in the nation.
Landing his commitment would be an absolutely massive win for Elko in a 2025 class which the Aggies are already extremely strong at defensive back.
