Golden Lands With Pro Bowl Quarterback in Mock Draft
Mock drafts are swirling the NFL world now that free agency is a few days in, and most rosters are starting to get filled up.
With many teams addressing gaps through free agency, the focus now shifts to the NFL draft and how franchises will round out their rosters.
The 33rd Team has been unveiling their first-round mock draft in increments, adding thoughtful analysis to each pick. Recently, they released selections 17-24, including an intriguing choice for the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the 22nd pick in this mock, the Los Angeles Chargers get their deep threat in Texas Longhorns star receiver Matthew Golden.

Golden could be the receiver that Justin Herbert and the Chargers have been looking to find in years. Over the past few years, the Chargers went with primarily slot and route running receivers, such as Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey.
Though the Chargers recently re-signed Mike Williams as their deep threat, his injury history makes him less reliable.
Bringing in Golden could immediately provide a reliable deep threat, who can get past defenders with ease. Adding him as a deep threat could open up opportunities for McConkey in the slot, while utilizing Williams and Johnston on shorter routes.
Greg Roman's offense could use an explosive weapon, after being fairly predictable other than Ladd McConkey's impressive rookie season, and Golden would fit that mold perfectly.
With Matthew Golden’s addition, the Chargers could finally unlock the explosive dimension their offense has been missing, making them a more dynamic and unpredictable team for the 2025 season.
