Five Transfer Portal Players Visiting Texas This Week

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have been extremely active in the NCAA transfer portal window thus far.

The Longhorns are reportedly hosting several transfer players over the next week. One of the biggest names of the group is tight end Max Klare. The former Purdue standout is ranked the No. 1 tight end in the transfer portal per 247Sports. Texas has a need at the position with starting tight end Gunnar Helm likely heading to the NFL Draft once the season concludes.

Inside Texas' Eric Nahlin reports that Oregon is also pursuing Klare heavily and working on getting him in for a visit. However, Klare visited Austin on Thursday and seemingly had a great experience.

Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. is considered the No. 1 overall player in the transfer portal at this time. Singleton is reportedly expected to be in Austin on Monday. He will obviously be a key target to watch moving forward.

Texas already landed a commitment from Utah punter Jake Bouwmeester on Friday during his visit to Austin. The Longhorns have struggled in the kicking game recently and Bouwmeester would be an immediate upgrade over Michael Kern. Bouwmeester was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2024.

Arkansas linebacker Brad Spence and Purdue defensive tackle Cole Brevard are reportedly visiting Texas on Friday as well.

Sarkisian's staff has done a great job plucking immediate starters at positions of need via the transfer portal over the last two seasons and will look to continue that trend this offseason.
