UCLA Basketball: Ex-Bruin LiAngelo Ball Signs With International Pro Club
Former UCLA Bruins three-star recruit and shooting guard LiAngelo Ball is taking his talents to Mexico.
SLAM Online's official X account announced Ball would head to Mexico to play professional Ball for the Astros De Jalisco. Ball also promoted his new sneaking, the BBB G3, while announcing his next career move.
Before this move, Ball played in the NBA's G League for the Greensboro Swarm. The Swarm is the Charlotte Hornets' NBAGL affiliate.
In his G League career, Ball averaged 4.4 points on 38.2% shooting from the field and 33.3% shooting from three, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.2 assists in 31 games.
Ball's infamous tenure at UCLA came to a screeching halt. Before their regular season opener in 2017, he and two other UCLA teammates were arrested in Shanghai, China, for allegedly stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store.
The trio faced a fine and three to ten years in prison but were soon released from custody. UCLA suspended Ball indefinitely from the UCLA basketball program. It was said he would remain suspended for the entire season, so Ball withdrew from UCLA almost a month after the incident.
It's been a tough road for Ball since the incident, but he's not giving up on his basketball career. The 25-year-old will now look to excel in his next journey in Mexico.
We wish the short-lived Bruin the best of luck during this next phase in his journey.
