Taylor Swift Makes History at Billboard Music Awards

Taylor Swift closed out her record-breaking Eras tour in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Dec. 8. After 149 shows in 21 countries across the globe, the Eras Tour became the first tour in history to gross over $2 billion in ticket sales.

Proving she's one of the hardest-working artists in the business, Swift, in the midst of her global tour, surprised fans by releasing her 11th studio album in April, "The Tortured Poets Department."

"TTPD," which features 31 songs, broke Apple Music's record for biggest pop album of all time by first-day streams, and became the first album to surpass one billion streams in a single week on Spotify.

While fans commemorated the end of the Eras tour, "TTPD" surged back into the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for a 17th non-consecutive week. No other album in the 21st century has had a longer run at No. 1 in a single calendar year.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the 34-year-old pop star once again made history at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Dec. 12.

Swift was already the most decorated female BBMAs artist of all time, and she was a finalist in 16 categories on Thursday night, second only to Zach Bryan (17 categories.)

The "Karma" singer walked away with 10 wins, including Top Artist, breaking the record for most BBMAs in history (49 wins).

While Swift didn't attend the awards show in person, as she spent the day visiting patients at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, she shared her acceptance speech via a video message.

"This is like the nicest early birthday present you could’ve given me," Swift said, as she turns 35 on Dec. 13. "So, thank you very much! I love it. It's exactly what I wanted."

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Swift's boyfriend, is also planning something very special for her birthday.

A source told Page Six, "This is a milestone birthday for Taylor so he wants to make it extra special. Travis has only let a few of those closest to him know what he has in store for Taylor because he doesn’t want to ruin any surprises."

While it's not easy picking out presents for the billionaire singer, Kelce has been stockpiling gifts for both her birthday and Christmas over "the past several months," the source said.
