Let our fantasy experts help you pick a great golf lineup.
The Northern Trust golf tournement is set for Aug. 24-27 at Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, N.Y. So it's time to start picking your optimal DraftKings fantasy golf lineup. Fortunately, our fantasy golf experts are ready to help.
Here's what our best Northern Trust 2017 lineup looks like:
Justin Thomas ($9,400)
You know it’s a deep field when the odds-on favorite for PGA Tour Player of the Year can be had at this price. Notoriously streaky, Thomas has six missed cuts to go with his three wins this year, but he’s coming off the best performance of his career, a two-shot win at the PGA Championship. Ride the wave.
Brooks Koepka ($9,100)
Koepka’s early-season struggles are a distant memory. Since missing the cut at the Arnold Palmer, he has eight top-20 finishes in his last 11 appearances, including a U.S. Open win. The wide-open Glen Oaks layout will entice the bombers, and Koepka certainly qualifies.
Patrick Reed ($8,600)
Reed won this event last year (at Bethpage Black), so the big stage won’t scare him a bit. He was last seen finishing second at the PGA Championship. Reed is eighth on Tour in strokes gained, putting — a useful skill at a venue where fast and tricky Poa annua greens are the primary defense.
Charley Hoffman ($7,900)
We’ve been on the Hoff Train all year (mostly in the bar car), and he has yet to disappoint, aside from not winning. But in this hobby, you don’t have to win to earn your keep. Hoff has six top-5 finishes in the last six months, and he has the most FedExCup points among non-winners (11th).
Jason Dufner ($7,600)
Duf looks like a sneaky play this week. He made it all the way to the Tour Championship last year, and he has a win on his ledger this year (at the Memorial). His statistical profile shows a guy who could contend (12th in SG: approach the green, 19th in SG: total, 25th in scoring average).
Brian Harman ($7,000)
Would it surprise you to learn that Harman is 26th in the world? It surprised me. But it shouldn’t: The guy’s having a career year with a win, a second, a third and four other top 10s. Lethal with the flat stick (fifth in SG: putting).
