Fantasy Baseball Cheat Sheet: Early Top 300 Rankings for 2018

Reigning AL MVP Jose Altuve checks in at No. 2 with spring training in full swing in Florida and Arizona

Spring training in Florida and Arizona is in full swing, which means that fantasy baseball is back! With the NFL season now fully in the rear-view mirror (speaking as a still-hurting Minnesota Vikings fan), we can always count on the arrival of spring training to herald MLB's return to boost everyone’s spirits.

With that in mind, below you will find my early (as in "there's still a long ways to go before Opening Day") fantasy baseball Top 300 rankings for 2018 for a standard, 5x5 or Roto league. I hope to update these rankings, frequently, perhaps as often as frequently as weekly, as we tick down to the start of the regular season.

Many leagues are drafting already so it is never too early to start your draft prep. Also keep in mind the insane number of unsigned free agents floating about which could shake up the rankings as well.

The top 10 remain consistent no matter what for me but once we get to 40 and below it gets interesting as there are plenty of intangibles and interchangeable players depending on need for your drafts and roster.

Yu Darvish signing with the Cubs is a big deal, and he still has elite-level stuff. Last year seemed shaky, but his peripherals were still there and remember it was his first year post-Tommy John surgery. Compared to others coming off the same injury he looked plenty good. He is 31, so that is something to keep in mind for keeper and dynasty league owners.

Either way, happy studying and stay tuned for updates as the season gets closer. Let’s play ball!
