Defense/Special Teams Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 1

Defense/Special Teams Rankings Week 10: Marlon Humphrey/Baltimore Ravens

Expect a bounce-back year from the Baltimore DST and that starts with an easy Week 1 matchup against the Jets.

Both the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) and I have the same defense/special teams atop our Week 1 fantasy football DST rankings — the San Francisco 49ers.

The only reason this game may not be a low-scoring affair is that the 49ers could put up 40-plus on the Bears. Otherwise, I'd expect this to be a very low-scoring game, with the 49ers' D making it a miserable season opener for Justin Fields.

After the 49ers, however, the ECR and I have tons of little deviations, including my second-ranked DST this week, the Baltimore Ravens.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised. I know the Ravens were not even in the top half of DSTs last year. But that was a team ravaged by injuries on both sides of the ball. Far healthier to start the season this year, getting the Jets in Week 1 was a mismatch when schedules were released. Add in that the Ravens might get to face 37-year-old backup quarterback Joe Flacco instead of Zach Wilson and this matchup gets even juicier.
