There is only one dramatic difference between my Week 18 fantasy defense/special teams (DST) rankings and the ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings). And that's where I have the Washington Football Team DST this week.
They will be better than average. They are after all going up against the Giants, the same team that had negative net passing yards last week. The current version of the Giants' offense might be historically bad. One thing for sure is they are probably the worst offense going into Week 18.
But as bad as the Giants are, I still don't see Washington performing in line as one of the top dozen DSTs, let alone inside the top 10 as the ECR has WFT. Washington is currently among the bottom six DSTs in fantasy (depending on scoring). I don't foresee WFT suddenly jumping up 15 spots this week.
Only six defenses have fewer INTs. But Washington is not a great run defense either, especially from a fantasy perspective. Only three teams have recovered fewer fumbles. Furthermore, WFT has allowed the fifth-most points per game.
If you are still playing in Week 18, you might be considering the WFT DST as a stream option. Don't.
