Keenan Allen is known for putting together strong second halves and this season has been no different
It's Week 14 of Daily Fantasy Football (DFS) picks and for most leagues, this is the first week of the playoffs. For owners that are in the postseason it's a somewhat relieving, yet completely powerless position. Far too often your team goes from being fantastic in the regular season to MIA (and I don't mean the Dolphins) when the games really count. Ideally that one bad game happens in the regular season, but that's not the case. Trust me, I know.
When it comes to DFS, the playoffs don't matter but it's even more important to try and avoid those dud performances or at least minimize your exposure. The difference is even if you lose in DFS, there's always next week, as long as your pocketbook can take the hit.
For Week 14, there are four games projected for 50-plus points this week. A few more lopsided matchups make the spreads a little more interesting for stacking purposes. I'm particularly eyeing the Steelers and Saints this week.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay — 56
Baltimore at Kansas City — 53
Los Angeles Rams at Chicago — 52.5
Pittsburgh at Oakland — 51.5
(Favored teams in bold)
As for last week, Philip Lindsay definitely provided value but the rest didn't exactly pan out. Cam Newton had too many interceptions and while Adam Thielen caught a TD pass that was really it, other than his "discussion" with Bill Belichick. But what did I say earlier? Every week offers a chance a clean slate. So let's see what Week 14 has to offer, shall we?

Week 14 Core Plays
These will be my top plays for the Sunday-Monday slate of games. These are players who I will try to have in as many lineups as possible. If I can, I will use three or all four in one lineup. A reminder that for cash games going with an elite quarterback is typically recommended. If you go value at quarterback he MUST meet value for your loaded lineup to be worth it.
QB: Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Cincinnati ($8,300 FanDuel/$6,500 DraftKings)
Rivers and the Chargers are coming off a very big win Sunday night in Pittsburgh and certainly looking to exploit the Bengals this week. Keenan Allen has been a monster and is my favorite WR play this week. Rivers has been above 20 points over the past two weeks, so I definitely don’t see that changing this week, especially if Melvin Gordon is out again.
RB: Aaron Jones, Green Bay vs. Atlanta ($7,500 FanDuel/$7,200 DraftKings)
Jones will have a new head coach this week, and hopefully it is someone who is willing to use his skill set and explosiveness more than Mike McCarthy. We shall see, but last week a touchdown salvaged his outing somewhat. This week I like this game to be high scoring and very offensive (in a good way). Jones is too good to only get 14 total touches.
WR: Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants at Washington ($8,000 FanDuel/$8,300 DraftKings)
Beckham is another part of my elite wide receiver combo this week. In fact I may be leaning towards three top-10 plays this week. Beckham is in a fantastic matchup and the Giants have been playing better lately. And if he throws another TD pass? Bonus.
WR: Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Cincinnati ($7,900 FanDuel/$7,400 DraftKings)
Allen is elite, especially the second half of seasons, and if we are using Philip Rivers pairing him with his favorite target is a smart move. Allen will likely be popular, but should be worth the price looking at his past four games and given the matchup.
TE: Chris Herndon, New York Jets at Buffalo ($5,500 FanDuel/$3,000 DraftKings)
Back to our dart throw at tight end this week. Herndon has been pretty good and will cost you next to nothing. He has had double-digit points twice in the last four weeks, so well worth the “risk” in my opinion.
Value Plays of the Week
QB: Eli Manning, New York Giants at Washington ($6,500 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings)
Washington has had issues against the pass all season. I like OBJ a ton already, so it is hard to look past his quarterback, especially at this price. I may not be as confident in cash contests with Manning, but could still consider it. He will be one of my top QBs in GPPs this week.
RB: Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh at Oakland ($4,600 FanDuel/$3,700 DraftKings)
Let’s see if Pittsburgh is literally a plug-n-play offense for running backs shall we? Samuels should see plenty of touches with James Conner already ruled out. That makes him chalk city since Samuels is dirt cheap and will allow you to really load up on stars too. Eat the chalk.
WR: Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans ($5,600 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings)
Godwin comes cheap and in a nice enough matchup with a game that should feature plenty of offensive fireworks. Mike Evans is the top dog, but Godwin could be a sneaky play with high upside this week. You may not need to go cheap this week at WR, but if you do look Godwin’s way.
