NFL DFS: Best DraftKings and FanDuel Predictions and Picks for Week 7

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers

With so many teams on bye, this may be a good week to take a chance in DFS on Robby Anderson

Apologies for the lateness of my Week 7 daily fantasy football (DFS) picks. Been a heck of a week, I'll just say that. But I'm hoping I've built up a little graciousness given that my recommendations last week had a success rate of around 80 percent.

Okay, yes there's some subjectivity there. But I'd argue that eight of my ten recommendations let those who rostered them fairly satisfied. Disagree? Fine, drop me a line to let me know. Been arguing with the wife much of the week, so anything you want to criticize me for would be a welcome relief!  And if you're reading this, my love, just kidding! ;)

Getting back to this week's picks, remember that there are six teams on bye this week, meaning that every DFS player has fewer options and therefore there is more likely to be more overlap. That fact can be huge whether you are playing a GPP or a cash game.

Week 7 Positional Rankings: QB I RB I WR I TE I DST I K I Flex

Speaking of GPP and cash games, keep that in mind as I go through each position and list one "safe" pick and one "high-risk/high-reward" pick. The first is essentially a cash-game play and the second is a GPP play. I also will make sure that said player is priced proportionately about the same across DraftKings, FanDuel, and the other major sites. For those of you unfamiliar with DFS, do yourself a favor and look up cash games vs. GPPs. Or hit me up on Twitter (@MarkStrausberg) and I will explain it to you personally.

Teams on bye: Atlanta, New Orleans, New York Jets, San Francisco

Safe Quarterback Week 7 Pick

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs (DK $6400, FD $7600)

Tannehill has not had a great year so far. Heck, he hasn't even had a good year so far. There's a reason I was able to pluck him out of free agency this week. But I'm actually quite excited about that move and I think this is the week he bounces back.

For one, the over/under for this game is a whopping 57.5 points, with the Titans having an expected score of over 24 points. I promise you that it will not be all Derrick Henry and FGs. Secondly, while Tannehill might not have Julio Jones, he will have a healthy A.J. Brown at his disposal finally. Furthermore, with the Chiefs giving up the second-most fantasy points to QBs so far this season, this matchup could not be much better. There is a little more risk with Tanny this week than I usually have for my recommendations in this spot. But if I included him below, you would have laughed at me for calling him "high risk". And I just couldn't neglect to recommend him this week!

High Risk/Reward Quarterback Week 7 Pick

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK $5300, FD $6500)

Remember what I said above about there being more overlap? Well, Fields is one good way to distinguish your lineup from others! (insert tongue in cheek).

But has Fields really been any worse than some of the higher-priced guys above him? No. And given his low salary, it doesn't require a lot from him to make a profit. Plus, many will overlook how porous the Buccaneers defense has been this year. They have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. I wouldn't come anywhere near Fields in a cash game but in a GPP? Hmmm.

Safe Running Back Week 7 Pick

Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions (DK $6600, FD $8000)

The temptation here is to go with Derrick Henry. He brings a very high floor and should hit that floor. But he needs to do a lot more than that to give us value at his high price. So instead, I will opt for the far cheaper option of Henderson. He now has five touchdowns in his last five games. He is averaging more than 70 yards a game. That's what we call a very dependable floor. Lock him in.

High Risk/Reward Running Back Week 7 Pick

Damien Harris, New England Patriots vs. New York Jets (DK $5700, FD $6800)

I feel like we could have a glass half full/half empty debate about Harris all day. Three touchdowns through six weeks are not what those who drafted him had in mind. And the negative rushing yards (-4) he had against the Buccaneers is certainly not what those who started him in Week 5 expected. However, he's coming off an 18-carry, 101-yard (with a TD) performance last week against Dallas. I see no reason why he can't do the same or even better against the Jets this week.

Safe Wide Receiver Week 7 Pick

A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs (DK $6300, FD $7000)

Because...

If you don't know what the tweet above is about, google it. But no food poisoning for Brown this week and I expect him and Ryan Tannehill to make for the best duo Nashville has seen since the CMAs!

High Risk/High Reward Wide Receiver Week 7 Pick

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers at New York Giants (DK $4800, FD $5500)

I don't think I need to explain why Anderson is a risky pick. The bigger question might be is why I like him this week.

According to PFF, Robby Anderson is fifth in "air yards from incompletions that were deemed to be their QB's fault (overthrown, underthrown, behind, catch out of bounds, etc." Plus, Anderson has been struggling with drops this year too. He caught 70 percent of the passes thrown his way last season. He's currently caught just 39.3 percent of his targets in 2021. And yes, we could easily see more of the same this week. However, those numbers are all wild outliers (according to the department of redundancy). I can't but help suspect that positive regression is coming. And I want to jump on the train before it leaves the station.

Safe Tight End Week 7 Pick

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins (DK $5900, FD $6100)

Miami is average against TEs and Pitts' line last week (9 rec., 119 yds., TD) is not. Start Pitts.

High Risk/High Reward Tight End Week 7 Pick

Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK $3000, FD $4900)

I said I like Justin Fields this week. Might as well stack Fields with his super-affordable tight end!

Safe Defense/Special Teams (DST) Week 7 Pick

Arizona Cardinals vs. Houston Texans (DK, $3100 FD $5000)

I love some of the top DST plays this week. But I need to save a little salary. And I can get the second-best fantasy defense for about 20 percent less on DK? Oh, and they are playing one of the worst offenses in the league as well? Yes, please. I warn you that you won't be alone as this will be a very popular pick. That doesn't mean it's not a great pick.

High Risk/Reward Defense/Special Teams (DST) Week 7 Pick

Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins (DK $2700, FD $3900)

I can't believe I'm actually suggesting a team that has given up the second-most points per game. On the flip side, there are opinions like this out there...
