Fantasy Football 2013 Running Back Rankings: Week 11

Rookie Giovani Bernard has scored three total touchdowns in his last two games

Athlon Sports' fantasy football Week 11 running back rankings begin in Seattle, as two of the NFL's best will share the Pacific Northwest spotlight. Marshawn Lynch gets the edge over Adrian Peterson this week, as Lynch has been in "Beast Mode" the past two games, rushing for a total of 270 yards. Peterson hasn't been a slouch himself, totaling 215 yards on the ground and three touchdowns during the same span, but the Seahawks' defense figures to be a tougher test for the reigning MVP than the Vikings' defense for Lynch.

Elsewhere around the league, in many ways what has been a disappointing season for running backs either from a performance (Ray Rice, Maurice Jones-Drew) or health standpoint (Arian Foster, Doug Martin, Steven Jackson, C.J. Spiller, David Wilson), there have been some bright spots when it comes to younger players. Zac Stacy and Eddie Lacy have certainly had an impact, but Giovani Bernard, the first running back taken in the 2013 NFL Draft (2nd round, 37th overall), could emerge as the most dynamic, versatile and productive of his class before the end of the season.

Entering the 2013 campaign, Bernard's potential was limited somewhat because he was sharing carries with incumbent starter BenJarvus Green-Ellis. As this season has progressed, however, the Bengals have put more of an emphasis on getting the ball into Bernard's hands, and the strategy has paid off. Bernard has three total touchdowns over the last two games, two of them being of the highlight-reel variety, and last week got a season-high 22 touches. Cleveland's defense has been pretty good this season, but when it comes to Bernard's speed, explosiveness and big-play ability, he has almost reached must-start status.

Each week during the NFL season, we will rank enough players at each position to appease everyone from those in 8-team leagues to 16-team leagues, those that can start two QBs, two TEs, three RBs and four WRs. We cut out the rest, because if you're looking at who the 50th-best running back or the 17th-best kicker is for that week, you need more help than any website can give you.
