So it should come as no surprise that among the top 10 fantasy scorers at the position last season, seven of the DL finished with double-digit sacks. However, that doesn't mean a good fantasy DL only racks up the QB takedowns.
Take Joey Bosa, for example. Yes, he recorded 10.5 sacks, making him just one of 17 players to do so in 2021, but he also finished in the top 10 thanks to his seven forced fumbles (second in the NFL). Bosa's combination of sack production and playmaking potential is the big reason why he and his brother, the 49ers' Nick, lead off this year's DL rankings with the gold standard, for the position, Aaron Donald, close behind him.
Donald's inclusion is obvious, but one of the things that makes the future Hall of Famer so reliable in fantasy is his tackle production. This is another area that can't be overlooked when it comes to picking a fantasy DL for your lineup, which is where a guy like Christian Wilkins comes in. Wilkins was a top-10 fantasy DL last season even though he only had 4.5 sacks because of his 89 total tackles, which tied him with Cameron Heyward (No. 1 scoring DL last season) for the most at the position.
Just remember to double-check your league for positional qualifications, as some DLs may carry LB-eligibility and vice versa.
