As valuable as having one of the elite defensive linemen on your fantasy team can be, when it comes to Individual Defensive Players (IDPs), linebacker is the "it" position. And the reason is pretty simple — the guys that man the middle of any defense are typically those that are in on the majority of plays.
Linebackers are generally the top scorers among IDPs, especially those that can do a little bit of everything. Darius Leonard is No. 1 at his position for the second straight season because he not only gets a lot of tackles (17th in the NFL last season), but he also collected five interceptions, five sacks, forced two fumbles, was credited with seven passes defended, and scored a touchdown for good measure.
Right behind him in scoring at the position in 2019 was Jordan Hicks, who finished third in tackles and also had three picks among his across-the-board production. Hicks is a top-10 fantasy option himself with Leonard followed at the top by Bobby Wagner, a guy who has led the league in tackles twice in the last four seasons.
There are plenty of playmaking linebackers to choose from in 2020 but which one you decide to draft and when could be the difference between having a good season in an IDP league or a championship campaign.
