When it comes to Individual Defensive Players (IDPs) in fantasy football, linebacker remains the "it" position. And the reason is pretty simple — the guys that man the middle of any defense are typically those that are in on the majority of plays.
Linebackers are generally the top scorers among IDPs, especially those who can do a little bit of everything. Darius Leonard is No. 1 at his position for the third straight season, even though he didn't finish as the top fantasy scorer. Instead, that honor went to Devin White, who checks in right behind Leonard in our rankings. Both players are similar in that they are safe bets for across-the-board production.
Take Leonard, for example. He finished ninth in total tackles last season (White was fifth) even though he missed two games. Leonard also chipped in three sacks, forced three fumbles, recovered two, and was credited with seven PDs (pass defended). Leonard, White, as well as Roquan Smith, Blake Martinez, and Bobby Wagner aren't just tackling machines. They are sideline-to-sideline playmakers who will go quickly in fantasy drafts once the IDPs start coming off the board.
