Golf lineup for DraftKings Safeway Open

The Safeway Open golf tournament is set for Oct. 5-8 at Silverado Resort and Spa’s North Course in Napa, Calif. So it's time to start picking your optimal DraftKings fantasy golf lineup. Fortunately, our fantasy golf experts are ready to help.

Here's what our best Safeway Open 2017 lineup looks like:

Phil Mickelson ($11,000)

Lefty looked rejuvenated at the Presidents Cup, going 3-0-1 for a dominant U.S. team, but it wasn't a one-off. Mickelson had a solid season, narrowly missing a trip to East Lake and posting four top-20 finishes in his last eight tournaments. He had a T8 here last year. There's still some fire in that paunchy 47-year-old belly.

Brendan Steele ($9,000)

The defending champ also finished T17 in 2015 and T21 in 2014, so he's golden at Silverado. This is his opportunity to turn the page on a disappointing summer.

Sam Saunders ($7,800)

Saunders did something that his grandpa Arnie never did, joining the exclusive 59 club at the Tour Championship, ultimately finishing T2. He tasted some success with the big boys in 2017, posting a pair of top 10s on the PGA Tour.

Mackenzie Hughes ($7,600)

Last year at this time, Hughes launched his rookie season with a T13 at the Safeway. Flash forward a year, and he has a win and nine top-25 finishes under his belt, narrowly missing a trip to the Tour Championship and rising more than 200 spots in the World Golf Ranking.

Denny McCarthy ($7,500)

The 2015 Virginia grad locked up his Tour card at the Tour Championship and makes his PGA Tour debut after a strong and consistent season in the minors.

Hunter Mahan ($6,700)

We'll take a bargain-basement flyer on the six-time PGA Tour winner, who is coming off a miserable season that included a swing rebuild. Time to see if the work will pay off.
