Gus Edwards looks to be the beneficiary of a Baltimore backfield depleted by COVID-19
I can promise you that the highlight of my Week 12 fantasy football flex rankings is not going to be as fun to watch as last week's selected player, Justin Jefferson.
Ironically Jefferson and our featured player, Gus Edwards, both should see much more attention from fantasy owners this week and for the same reason. It seems that Week 12 is the purple-clad teams' turn for the 'rona, wreaking havoc on both the Vikings and the Ravens. The latter team has particularly hard hit this week, as Baltimore's game with Pittsburgh has already been moved from Thanksgiving night to Sunday afternoon.
For now, let's assume that the Ravens and Steelers will play each other on Sunday. If J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Edwards becomes not just the lead back but should get a majority of the RB touches against Pittsburgh.
Of course, the Steelers are tough against the run. It's not a dream matchup. But as is often said when those two teams square off, you can throw the records and the stats out the window. The potential mileage that the Gus Bus rolls up will definitely vary based upon game flow and how John Harbaugh decides to game plan against the undefeated Steelers. Edwards could give you a big fat zero or he could put up 20-plus fantasy points.
But as long as you are willing to wait a little longer and depending on what your options are this week, Edwards is definitely a potential flex option.
