Which characters from the show would allow you to dominate your league?
Game of Thrones has become a cultural phenomenon that may not be duplicated any time soon. Each week, there are hundreds of recaps through articles, podcasts, and videos exploring every fan theory, no matter how insane it is.
In honor of the show's series finale airing this week, I am going to explore my own crazy question: Which Game of Thrones characters would be on the ultimate fantasy football team? Here is my starting lineup, and I am pretty sure it would beat yours. (WARNING: Minor spoilers ahead.)
QB – The Night King
To paraphrase Napoleon Dynamite's Uncle Rico, the Night King can toss a spear a quarter of a mile. There's no telling what he can do with a pigskin.
RB – Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane
Since this is Game of Thrones, I'm assuming this team would be about power rushing. The Mountain would be in the mold of Earl Campbell, except he’s much bigger and sadistic.
RB – Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun
One of the longest-living giants on the show, "Wun Wun" has a terrible 40 time, but showed how tough he is to bring down during "The Battle of the Bastards."
WR – Oberyn Martell
The Viper is tall, athletic, and cocky... everything you expect in a receiver.
WR – Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish
As crafty as Littlefinger has proven to be, you know he would be able to get open.
WR – Jon Snow
Given his leadership, Snow needs to be on the field and the best fit for him is the receiving corps.
TE – Sandor "The Hound" Clegane
The Hound is a prototypical tight end and he's not afraid to get physical so you know he would break away after catching the ball in the middle.
K – Jaime Lannister
Even after losing his sword hand, Jaime has found a way to be resourceful in a fight. On this team, he would handle the kicking game.
DEF – The Dothraki
All of the armies that could take this position have their pros and cons, but no group seems to revel in wreaking havoc like the Dothraki. You would not want to line up against them.
IDP – Brienne of Tarth
Having seen Brienne in numerous fights, it's clear to me that she would get you the sacks, interceptions, and fumbles needed to score points as an IDP.
