If you are reading this, there's a high probability you might care about what kicker to start on your fantasy team for Week 1. And to that, I say good for you!
Too many fantasy football leagues have eliminated the kicker position. But not your league! You and your league-mates have already garnered an additional morsel of admiration from yours truly.
However, seasoned fantasy owners know that the points a kicker provides you or your opponent can be the difference between the wonderful W or a lowly L.
That being said, Week 1 is going to look a lot like any preseason ranking. I did not do anything too wild. The most I raised or lowered any kicker versus the ECR (Expert Consensus Ranking) was a maximum of two slots. One of those was Brandon McManus, who I recently learned went to high school not too far from me. Perhaps it was sentimental reasons that I raised him. Or perhaps it was because the Broncos are taking on the Giants, a team with plenty of question marks on both sides of the ball.
The other player I moved up is Greg Zuerlein. Full disclosure, I have him in one of my money leagues and I’m hoping for a huge night from him. However, the Cowboys will be kicking off the season on Thursday night against Tampa Bay in what is tied for the second-highest over/under of the week. We should expect a ton of points in that one. I would be shocked if Zuerlein doesn’t give us at least four fantasy points, nor would I be surprised if he gives us more than double that.
