Daniel Carlson put up plenty of points in Week 1, but that doesn't mean he's become a must-start kicker either
Ahh, kickers. The position is typically the bane of a fantasy owner's existence. True to form, in Week 1, there were three kickers with the most fantasy points (12, low kicking day). Those three kickers — Josh Lambo, Daniel Carlson, Mason Crosby — are owned in a combined 32 percent of leagues. Crosby is ranked No. 13 for Week 2, but that's the highest of that group.
Kickers are hard to predict, and Week 1 was no exception. However, at the end of the day, kickers on teams with high-powered offenses typically perform well. Harrison Butker and Justin Tucker are at the top of the list because Kansas City and Baltimore looked like very good teams in Week 1. Good teams score points, which means kickers get points for fantasy owners. Warning: avoid all Thursday night kickers. Cincinnati is keeping two kickers on their roster: one with two strained calves and one they just claimed off waivers. Cleveland is turning to their practice squad kicker, Cody Parkey. Neither should be used in fantasy.
