Justin Tucker returns to the top of my fantasy kicker rankings for Week 3. He's not just my favorite kicker, but one of my favorite players period, so I'm not discussing him this week. But I would like to discuss the No. 2 kicker in my Week 3 rankings, Ryan Succop.
Maybe it's because his name sounds like the brown-nosing teacher's pet. But he is never discussed in the same breath as Tucker, Harrison Butker, and some of the other top kickers. And maybe he should be.
Other than a knee injury in 2019, Succop has played all 16 games in every one of his 11 other seasons. That's not quite as many games as recently retired Adam Vinatieri, but it shows his dependability. He also has booted 21 field goals of 50 yards or longer. What was once a major weakness for Tampa Bay (Remember the "Hard Knocks" drama when the Bucs were on it?) is now a strength. Succop has connected on 91 percent of his FG attempts with Tampa Bay. Any kicker with a 91 percent success rate has typically finished the season in the top 10 and usually better.
I'm not quite ready to say Succop is a Hall of Fame kicker, but he's definitely become an elite one!
