Following his MVP campaign, Lamar Jackson is the top-ranked QB for Week 1
The 2020 NFL season kicks off this week, and fantasy owners need to get their lineups set. The first position most players look at is quarterback. Often, teams only have one quarterback on their roster, so it's an easy decision for Week 1, at least. However, for fantasy owners that play in a two-quarterback league or a superflex league, it may be a tough choice. The 2020 season poses additional challenges, as without a preseason, we haven't seen professional football on our TV since the Super Bowl (my, things were different then...). Fantasy owners didn't get a chance to see how quarterbacks connect with their pass catchers or which ones are struggling to get the ball downfield.
As a result, we are looking at quarterbacks based on reports out of training camp and team history. The Thursday night game features two quarterbacks that are likely in most starting lineups: Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. Watson is ranked No. 7 and Mahomes is No. 2. Both are talented, both have plenty of talented pass catchers, and both should do well. However, it also is possible that they are rusty and both throw more interceptions than usual. Lamar Jackson has the No. 1 spot for Week 1. The matchup against Cleveland looks good on paper, and he was fantasy's No. 1 scorer in 2019.
